PNe15 - Monte Carlo-ing the subsample from
theoretical data
AND random box selections
Now we are Monte Carlo-ing the procedure of picking the (observed
number of) PNe from the big theoretical catalog AND Monte Carlo-ing the
random box selection methods. For each trial, a different set of PNe
data is
used, and a new set of boxes are placed.
Code is identical to PNe14, the only difference was in the PNe catalogs
- 20 catalogs were generated by repeating the subsampling program
(subs.sm) 20 times. Each was given a number 1 - 20 and when the PNe15
program is placing the boxes for the first trial, it uses the catalog
with the number 1. Regardless of which image the boxes are being placed
on, for each first trial, it uses PNe catalog #1, for the second trial,
catalog #2, and so on.
Ranges now used are half-box-widths (in pixels) of: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11,
13, 15, 25, 35, 45, 55, 65.

Contamination fractions now used are: 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%

takes multiple iterations and generates graphs as shown below
NOTE: for contamination of 20%, the ranges were run in the opposite
order as given above, to determine if there was any error in the
program that was causing the small hump at the small box sizes. [for
explanation of what the hump seems to be from, check this out - we CAN see the PNe in these
images]
