PNe 10 - running random box
(with/without stipulated or unstipulated) PNe on the theoretical PNe
positions
Armed with the PNe coordinates from the PNe8alpha methods, we try to do
statistics on this data, which DOES have a correlation between PNe and
light, in it (since we generated it that way!)
For this we used the PNe coordinates from alpha_2.5 = 23 x 10^-9, and
subsampled the catalog according to the number of PNe found by
Feldmeier/Okamura, as described on this
page.
The statistics applied are similiar to this page: PNe8. We used 3 histograms, and they are
all based on selecting random boxes:
For the 1+ PNe, make sure random boxes have at
least 1 PNe in them, otherwise select a new box.
For 0 PNe, make sure randoms have 0 PNe in them, or throw them out.
For Randoms, just pick random boxes.
For the fields, the # of PNe (and therefore the
number of boxes, it is set to the number observed) are:
Field 3 : 75
Field 4 : 11
Field 7 : 141
Field Sub : 34
Boxes are allowed to overlap and the program is restricted not to try
more than 1,000 unsuccessful times on each histogram method for each PN
in the field
