Current Research

I am currently using IRAF to reduce the optical long-slit spectra of galaxies. Five emission lines ( NII[6548.05 Å, 6583.45 Å], Hα[6562.77 Å], SII[6716.44 Å, 6730.815 Å] in rest frame ) are used to calculate the rotation velcity of galaxy. I use Gaussian fitting and cross-correlation two ways to measure the rotation velocity respectively. We pay more attention to velocity profile near the center of the galaxy, aiming to shed some light on the cusp-core problem.

Previous Research

My first work, which is also my Master work, is about measuring detailed chemical abundances from co-added medium resolution spectra of red giant stars in Milky Way globular clusters and dwarf spheroidal galaxies. I mainly worked with my advisor Prof. Eric W. Peng, Doctor Evan N. Kirby, Prof. Puragra Guhathakurta and Lucy Cheng.
