Bright Mask Methods
Individual Region images - clickable to "animate" through
the steps of the following analysis
Core, Sub, LPC, FCJ, 1, 3, 4, 7, Durrell
The Core region: /Core.fits
The first step was to manually mask out the brighest stars and the
artifacts around them (e.g. in the above image, the ring around the
star in the lower left corner). This was done by generating region
files that mask the appropriate areas and then converting them (via a
program from Prof. Mihos) into .pl masks.
Example bad regions file for Core: /Core/Core.reg
(
important
note about bad regions in LPC)
The masks were generated and used as the input Bad Pixel Mask (BPM) for
OBJMASK. Example: /Core/RMCore.pl
