Problem set 7 for ASTR 201: The Sun and its Planets

Due in class, Tues Oct 19

Several students have asked when it will be possible to see Jupiter and Saturn from the telescope on the roof of the Astronomy building. Use Redshift to calculate the earliest date that this will be possible for both planets using the following information: (i) A planet has to reach an altitude of at least 25 degrees above the horizon to clear the edge of the building and be visible where the telescope stands. (ii) Telescope viewing hours will be from 7:30 to 10:00 pm EDST.
