Clustering of Luminous Red Galaxies, Baryon Acoustic Oscillations, and Cosmological Implications

David Schlegel (LBL)

Luminous Red Galaxies have become the tool du jour for measuring the clustering of galaxies on the largest scales. I will present results from both the Sloan Digital Sky Survey spectroscopic and imaging surveys that probe this clustering in volumes of up to 1.5 cubic Gpc. These measures constrain cosmological models by detecting sound waves in the early universe, and the epoch of matter-radiation equality. Future surveys such as SDSS-III will also be discussed.
